Here follows a guide on how to get your songs copyrighted.

First of all! You should always check your own country’s copyright law first.

As mentioned in Copyright in General, you automatically copyright your song when it is created. But should it come to that you have to prove when your work was created, there are some services that provide such a thing.

It can be a good idea to register your copyrights with a third-party – just in case.

MyFreeCopyright.com provides a third-party, non-repudiation, registered dating of your original digital creation. By using this service, you publicly associate your digital copyright and defined rights to you.

Creative Commons is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to making it easier for people to share and build upon the work of others, consistent with the rules of copyright.

They provide free licenses and other legal tools to mark creative work with the freedom the creator wants it to carry, so others can share, remix, use commercially, or any combination thereof.
