FM8 is a software synth - just google it - it's VERY cool! And yes, it just works. It's quite amazing, having tried Mac OS 9, to experience how everything just seems to work.

Reason used to be one of my favorite programs, but I suspect that the more I get the time to make music again and become used to Logic Studio Pro, I'm won't need Reason any more. Take a look at Logic Studio Pro at Apple.com - they have some videos - it's gonna blow your mind !
I use:
Ancient Mac iBook G4
BLUE USB mic
Garageband
guitars
midi keyboards
ice packs!!!
...yep, I ain't kidding. when recording, especially on my old iBook, CPU's and hard drives heat up and start to slow down, so I put my iBook on a paint tray with ice-packs in it, and also under my external firewire mini-G-drive I record to, and everything runs cool and smooth. HEAT IS THE ENEMY! But when recording, NOISY FANS ARE THE ENEMY! Ice is my friend.

Plus, when I'm rich and famous, this will be the stuff of legends.
